These Samyang V-AF lenses are perfect for gimbal systems like the Ronin 4D or Sony Airpeak or due to their consistent form factor, weight, and size, making it easy to switch between different focal lengths without rebalancing the gimbal. Watch how easily i switch from a 35mm to a 75mm lens.
Im gonna just say it...
These lenses are just beautiful. The contrast of black with the gun metal finish and red accent to compliment the look. The Samyang V-AF lenses is not only aesthetically pleasing, but also feels sturdy and high-quality, debunking the assumption that it is a cheap lens.
Yup! Theses lenses are Full Frame and currently only available for E- Mount Cameras. Fingers crossed on this new L Mount alliance!
Being that our a-cam is the Ronin 4D, Choosing the e-mount E-Mount adapter for future compatibility with cameras like the FX3s or FX6s was a smart move. It ensures that the lenses will work flawlessly and be future-proof.
Let me first say. I try not to rely on auto focus much at all. Pulling focus was something i really worked hard on doing when running with the BMPCC6K Pro. With that said my personally experience with the auto focus of these lense have been great. Great as in accurate and fast! Yes, with the lidar campibilites of the Ronin 4D and with just the AF of the lenses. Honestly even better results with the AF straight from the lens itself.
This is where things get truly cinematic. This low aperture is not just for fancy bokeh but very helpful with low light situations. When you add in the native ISO of 5000 on the Ronin 4D with a lens bringing in light at T1.9 you can really cut down on the noise levels in the image. Not to take away from the shallow depth of field because that speaks for itself. Creating a rich focus on your subject. Check out these example shots here
The Samyang lens station allows users to easily update and customize their lenses, including adjusting manual and autofocus settings, as well as changing tally light colors.
Attaching the manual focus adapter also transforms the focus ring into an aperture ring, enabling simultaneous control over focus and aperture for a more cinematic experience.
The Peak design lens changing kit can come in clutch as a DoP that might be short handed or just wants a second lens close by. I use mine for storage and logistics.
For a $600-700 lens these are a must-have for videographers with full-frame E-Mount cameras due to their great depth of field, consistent form factor, and potential for future accessories. Also a no brainer for Ronin 4D owners!
