Black mist filters, why use them? I don't know, I've never thought of using one but we're going to figure it out together. So let's get creative.

Black Mist filters work by diffusing light and lowering the contrast without damaging the darker areas. It can give you a subtle halo effect around lamps or other light sources such as the sun. It also helps by softening the skin so it can help hide blemishes or imperfections during talking head/interview shots.

You can see the light source has softened the impact on the subject creating a more pleasing look.

From fashion to corpporate interviews this filter can come in handy to soften the skin. You might even save a little on MUA (Make Up Artist) for the day.

In the filter on shot you can see the halo effect introduced to create a subtle glow. I am eager to get this filter out in the city and shoot some night videography.

This filter is designed with Optical Glass. This nano coating is 18 layers on each side with a waterproof, oil proof and anti-static top layer that makes it super resistant in extreme conditions. Something I prefer when mounting on a camera car rig.

Now with me being a colorist and really getting into color grading. I like to control the moods of my shots and my films. I don't know if I want this baked into every shot. So I would be very selective when I use it. I see this as a great filter to use when I am filming for a client project and I know I want this look in the final footage. Saving me tons of time in post production.
